Overview

BOP Release Tracker is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Your email address — used for account access and alert delivery.
  • Search queries — the names and register numbers you search.
  • Tracked inmate records — the BOP register numbers you choose to monitor.

We do not collect government IDs, Social Security numbers, or financial information. Payment processing is handled securely by our payment provider; we never see or store your card details.

How We Use Your Data

  • To send you alerts when a tracked inmate's release date, facility, or status changes.
  • To provide your dashboard, change history, and FSA auditing tools.
  • To send optional weekly newsletters and onboarding tips (you can unsubscribe anytime).
  • To improve our service and detect technical issues.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only when required by law or to process payments through our payment provider. Inmate data is sourced from the public BOP database and is not purchased from or shared with any third party.

Data Retention

You can delete your tracked inmates at any time from your dashboard. When you delete a tracked record, we remove it from our active monitoring. Account data is retained until you request deletion by contacting support.

Security

We use industry-standard encryption (TLS) for all data in transit and store passwords using one-way hashes. Access to production data is restricted to authorized team members and audited.

Your Rights

You can access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us through our contact page. We respond to all data requests within 30 days.
